Turns out the CEO of Hostess wasn't bluffing. The financially strapped maker of Twinkies, Ho-Ho's and Ding-Dongs, and the owner of companies like Merita Bread here in Orlando, warned that the company could not survive unless striking employees returned to work by 5pm yesterday, and that he was prepared to shut down Hostess immediately. Not enough of them left the picket lines, so this morning, the boss ordered the company liquidated. Nice move by the union - they've just cost 18,500 workers their jobs!
