Republicans and Democrats Upset Over Lack of Sandy Relief!
Republicans and Democrats both took to the House Floor yesterday to bash Speaker John Boehner over not allowing a vote on relief for victims of Hurricane Sandy. They've since backed off in the face of Boehner's pledge to vote on the legislation early in the new Congress, which will be sworn in today.
As I said on this morning's show, Boehner should take a go-slow approach, because we're talking about a $60 billion dollar bill, which is crammed full of pork that has nothing to do Hurricane Sandy.
In addition, I want to know why Congress can't come up with budget cuts totalling $60 billion so Sandy relief doesn't add to the ballooning debt and deficits. Seems to me that would be the fiscally responsible thing for Congress to do. Oh.....sorry.....I used "Congress" and "fiscally responsible" in the same sentence. What was I thinking of? Just my country...that's all.
