(WFLA) Florida authorities have announced the arrest of Ana Gloria Garcia Gutierrez, a woman photographed riding a manatee last month. Sources say the arrest was in relation to a violation of Florida's Manatee Santuary Act. The act, made law in 2005, states that "It is unlawful for any person at any time, by any means, or in any manner intentionally or negligently to annoy, molest, harass, or disturb or attempt to molest, harass, or disturb any manatee."

The photo Gutierrez above was circulated last month by Florida officials in an attempt to identify the woman riding the manatee. At a press conference where the photo was circulated to local media outlets, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri suggested anyone who thought riding a manatee might be a good idea should probably 'rent a jet ski' instead.'
